10.25”w x 12.25”L x 3”t
I decided to make a somewhat larger basket this time after several inquiries about a size that could hold mail.
The bottom or center is made by me from thin wood painted with acrylics in the paint pour method and then glazed when cured with liquid glass. The liquid glass gives it a bright gloss that is hard to the touch. I have since switched to resin because I think it is a bit more forgiving.
I glued the center to a piece of leather with E600 epoxy.
The coils are made with primarily long leaf pine needles that have been treated with food grade, kosher glycerin during a long process of cooking and drying.
Other natural materials I include in the coils include rushes, sweet grass, and wild oats. I use embroidery thread for rings of color and synthetic sinew to hold all the coils together.
