Our state has suffered deeply from the devastating fires that roared through here this fall and last. It’s impossible to prevent that experience from surfacing in the art of so many of us.
Here, despite the deeper, darker colors, I have placed a peaceful face in the center and woven a rich bronze cord around and ‘round to represent hope and recovery.
I typically make my own ceramic centers, but this one I purchased from a wonderful artist on the east coast, also a basket maker.
I used glycerin soaked pine needles, and plain and dyed Wild Oats (provides the shine white and red in the upper body of the basket).
This would make a beautiful gift for the holidays or any special occasion. It’s perfect for jewelry, keys, guitar picks, paper clips, or Hershey’s kisses.
