The myths of spiders and bears in ancient cultures, and particularly the Celtics of old Europe, Scotland and Ireland, tell stories of magic, power, and especially female mysticism.

In this basket I have included symbols of both and circled ‘round and ‘round the warm colors of the fall forest, the dazzling bronze of royalty, and unseen, yet very present, the good prayers of the ancient bear goddess for protection.

Made from pine needles, Bear Grass, Wild Oats, Sweet Grass, and rushes, this petite basket will keep your treasures safe.

I often make my own ceramic basket centers, but this spiderweb ceramic center was created by ceramicist Trish Danby of Napa, CA. The bronze bear token was made by Steve The Green Man in England (follow him on Etsy as Green Man Jewellery).
