This is one of my largest baskets to date. It is deep enough to use for fruit or bread and as a serving basket.
It took quite a long time to make because of the details. I used a lot of colored wrapping (embroidery thread), which is tedious but fruitful, with all the lovely colors provided.
I used long leaf pine needles that I cook for several hours in a glycerin and water bath, sometimes adding dye (I use RIT dye primarily, as it is permanent and non-toxic). I generally add in a variety of other plant material from my yard, including Juncus rushes, Carolina Jessamine, Wild Oats, and Bear Grass.
